We have a 100% women owned team of ladies with different professional backgrounds. Each one brings their unique skills, talents, and experience to our company, to make sure we bring you products that are effective and kind to your skin and respect the environment.
Merentia Hattingh
Chemical Engineer, Research and Development
Merentia doesn’t back down from a challenge and she loves to make things. When tasked with getting the company cosmetics plant up and running, she jumped at the opportunity. She is talented at taking an idea from a concept to creating the finished product.
When Merentia isn’t working or creating something, you’ll find her outdoors. Some of her fondest memories are of family hiking adventures spent discovering intriguing flora and fauna of the natural world. This fuelled her fascination in plants, especially our indigenous florae and their therapeutic properties.
Merentia feels strongly about the negative impact humanity is having on the planet. She always looks for ways to reduce our impact on nature by changing small everyday things.
Themeda is the perfect place for her to combine her skills in formulating, talents in creating products, and passion for plants, nature, and the environment. She loves using the beneficial plants nature has given us to create beautiful skincare formulations. It gives her the opportunity to make products that help the skin, while treading gently on the planet and helping others who want to do the same.
Hayley has international qualifications in beauty therapy and complimentary therapies. Since qualifying, she has spent over twenty years working in almost every sphere of the beauty, skincare, and health industries. Hayley has a passion for natural and organic products and has been using them in her salon for the past 16 years.
She brings her knowledge, passion and years of experience working with clients and their many skin types to Themeda. She works with Merentia on product development and formulation and is the ‘voice of our customers’ who use our products.

Being part of the Themeda team has been a dream come true for Hayley. She gets to work with two of her great loves- skincare and the powerful effects plants have on the skin and body.
